SIGN Patient Information Booklet for parents, carers and families of children and young people with autism

The patient version of Autism, A Booklet for Parents, Carers and Families of Children and Young People was published on 21st February. The booklet is for parents, carer and families of children and young people up to the age of 18 who may be going through diagnosis or have already been diagnosed with autism.
The booklet explains the advice from healthcare professionals on how to help people with autism. It looks at:

  • getting assessed and diagnosed for autism
  • the approaches that can help
  • Information about the care your child is likely to get

This is the third of a series of patient versions produced from the guideline SIGN 145 Assessment, diagnoses and interventions for autism spectrum disorders. The first version, for adults with autism, was published in December 2016.
